At this time it seems like Wordpress is the best blogging platform available right now. (from what I've read) Is that what you are using on your blog?

Helen, how God blesses its family! He is wonderful to have a father thus. Congratulations!

Having lost my Dad many years ago your wonderful tribute to your dad brought tears to my eyes. We never thank our dads enough for what they do for us. My dad was a farmer and a factory worker and worked from dawn to dark to earn a living and to take care of my mother and his six kids. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a strict code of conduct. He was well-loved by his family, his community and his church family. God bless all our Dads. Where would we be without them?

Heather

What a beautiful and moving tribute to your dad. Please give him my congratulations on a well-deserved honor!

Julz

Helen, what a pleasure to read your post - it's great that you have the "blog platform" to shout from the rooftop about how great your dad is. 3 cheers for a top dad and congratulations.

Lynette Anderson

You had me in tears Helen, what an amazing day for him and your famiy. That bloody bit of water between the islands, hey! I bet he already knew how you felt, but would be so proud to read this entry. And 45 years is pretty impressive also. (Oh, and so is almost 40 comments!!)

karen

magalys

God bless your family! Thanks for sharing your joy. Congratulations to everybody! Hugs from Venezuela.

Lindi

A beautiful tribute, Helen. Congratulations to your Dad for being honoured. I imagine he's the sort of bloke that is secretly proud of being recognised, but at the same time, he can't understand why all the fuss about him.
And I also bet, that he is like my Dad was: the sort of wonderful Dad that is proud of his children more than he is of his own achievements.

jane

That was lovely. Your tribute to your DAd.Im sure there were tears, writing that, I certainly had them too!
Congrats to him. He sounds like a real good country bloke. Well done.
Its great guys like him are awarded sometimes - a normal Aussie.

OMG HOW wonderful a tribute to Dad. What more could a Dad ask for than to have the love and respect of his loving family. Whether you are there in person to celebrate his award, this Australia Day and their anniversary, I know that they both know you are with them today. Your tribute is so loving and so heartfelt. I cried reading it knowing my Dad (now 85 yrs. young) may or may not be around with me much longer--Mom died 16 years ago. I wish I could say what you have said so eloquently to my Dad. Funny how the people we love the most we tell the least.
Congrats to Dad on his award, to Dad and Mom on staying together as long as they have, and to you for having such wonderful loving parents.
~Shelly~

Messy Karen

thanks for sharing your story about your Dad with us.

Susan

What a great tribute to your Dad. I read the whole article. My Dad was a Lion for 30+ years in Green Bay, Wisconsin USA. How interesting to read that their main fundraiser was with sheep! Dad's club sold candy at Halloween and sponsored and endless series of Pancake & Porky breakfasts. As a kid (cub) my sister and I got to help bag candy every year and ate LOTS of pancakes. lol Sheep sound like lots more fun.

Congratulate your Dad for me; he sounds like a lovely man.

Helen, you are right - we don't always get the chance to publicly recognise how great our Dad's are! So pleased you could!

Happy Australia Day & I'm sure you'll enjoy these special celebrations with your family - even if it is from afar.

Congratulations to your Dad, how wonderful for him to be recognised for his contributions to the community. I couldn't enlarge the article to read it, but I am sure it would have made good reading. Your tribute to your Dad made me cry because my own Dad died 2 months ago and I often wish I could have told him how much he was appreciated - I just hope he knew. I am also very proud today because my sister just won an Active Citizen Award in her own community. Have fun celebrating!

marta

Felicidades para tu padre. Que bueno que en tu pais reconozcan a las personas que ayudan a otros sin esperar recompensa.
