I know you have all been waiting eagerly for this announcement - some of you have even beaten me to this post! Its nice to know you all enjoyed it so much last year that you can’t wait to start again.
so, we are off… a few changes this year to make my life easier and hopefully to make a smoother swap happening for you all.
registration is now closed, sorry, try again next year.
Once the registration has closed you will be then sent an email with your partners details. The free projects will begin on the 17th August.
A recap of the rules and how it all works for newcomers.
Welcome to the Stitcher’s Angel swap project 2009. There are two ways of taking part. Firstly you can just visit here every week beginning Monday 17th August to view and print a free pattern - yes a free pattern from a fantastic designer. There will be seven free patterns here for you all to collect, one each week.
Secondly, you can join in the swap by filling out and emailing the form below. You will be allocated a Secret Stitching angel and will be given a Stitcher for you to spoil. Over the seven weeks you need to hand make at least three projects to surprise your stitcher with. Of course you can make more than three but it must be at least three. And you too will receive at least three lovely surprises in your letter box.
A few changes from last year to avoid some of the problems we had. Firstly you now must have a blog to participate (this is so we can try and find you when your halo drops, so partners can establish what you like and so you can publicly thank your angel when goodies arrive, and she then knows they have made it)
You also must be willing to partner internationally - so if you don’t wish to pay postage overseas in the event you get assigned a partner overseas then I am sorry, this swap is not for you. It was just too hard to juggle and manage with those restrictions.
Thirdly, if your packages do not arrive your name will be permanently blacklisted from any further swaps and freely given to other swap divas who ask so PLEASE only enter if you are willing and able to complete your commitment. (this does not apply to life’s unexpected happenings – we all understand things happen, but it only takes a quick email to let us know and we will then understand and/or make other arrangements).
The theme of the swap is Roses so all of the free projects will be small items featuring roses. You don't have to make the free projects but you do need to make three things of choice for your secret Stitcher. To make this fun we will keep your identity a secret! You can reveal yourselves anyway you like at the end of the swap.
Join in the fun, add the badge to your blog (instructions below) and spread the word. We want secret goodies shipping all across the world.
Blog Badge
We have a new badge for the new swap. Read here for instructions on putting it on your blog.
Registrations close on the 8th August so get your name in, spread the word to friends and blog friends and get ready for a lovely few months of new friendships.
hugs, Helen

Helen, last year's swap was such a fun experience for me as it was my first of any kind to participate in. I had wonderful angels to send to and receive from. So of course I cannot pass up this opportunity!
I like the changes you have made too!
Thanks so much for organizing this again,
MGM

I really want to participate, but there's no way I could afford postage if I was assigned a partner outside the US. :( Guess I will just be watching from the sidelines and gathering free patterns!

Hi Helen!
I'm SOOO HAPPY that you considered to repeat this great swap this year. I missed out on last year's and was hoping for a new one, you made it happen!! Thank you!!!
I think this is a great way to make new friends, I love that! I'm counting the days to find out who my partner is and spoil her!! LOL
Thanks again for organizing it even though you must have lots of other commitments going on right now!

Hello!
I was hoping to take part in this swap, but am unfortunately unable, because like onlinelesley I do not have a Blog.
The rule about blacklisting people is great - I hope and wish that more people would have the guts to carry this out with other swaps!
The experience that I have made with organizing swaps (in Germany), is even when one a 'preference list' - good colours: red, orange & green, no go colours: pink, pastels & black, style: romatisch, etc and one has a blog, full of risks and doesn't mean that the personal taste of the receiver have been met - although all the 'wishes' were taken into account.
I would also hope that participants get personally in touch with their stiching angel (eg. letter) and not a quickly typed 'Thanks, it is great' in the blogs - apart from anything else, this is simple courtsey.
It is a real pity that I cannot take part.

My you have just a big heart - how on earth do you manage to fit all this in, teach/design/work/Quilters Aid and now another repeated mammoth task of last years. You need a Gold medal.
Posted by: dawnie | July 13, 2009 at 09:52 PM
Hi Helen, I have been so excited about this swap, I really, really loved last years! So, I am soooo disappointed that this year you have to have a blog to join. For various reasons I don't have a blog, am unable to, and this was one of the few swaps I could participate in. I understand completely why you have made this change, the logistics behind a swap like this must be enormous. But I beg you to reconsider this detail!!! I'm even willing to submit all other details in order to be chased up if necessary!!! Pleeassee!!!! Not complaining, just begging! LOL!
