At times I have to stop and remind myself to take time and smell the roses. And right now, I need to do this, not only because we have had a very busy couple of months but because the roses in my garden are just magnificent. My favourite flower would have to be the rose and I just love my little garden down here in Tassie where we are lucky to have water to give them a drink.
But that’s not really what this post is about. Being able to smell my roses is a treat, yes and it reminds me that for me, Life is beautiful. I have happy healthy children, a nice roof over my head, friends and family who care about me and opportunities that many don’t. It is important that I remember this often, we tend to rush through life and forget just how good it is.
okay, to the point…..Life is Beautiful, yes I have said that three times, just what am I getting to?

now…… I am so pleased with this and really want to inspire you all to create a wonderful journal as you stitch your way through this so yes, we are going to have a giveaway.
For every 50 comments we will give a way a full pack + a transfer set. BUT you have to come up with a nice verse or quote relating to your Beautiful life. And you have to write this with a photo of the quilt (you can copy from here) and a link back to here on your blog so that you too spread the love and remind those dear to you to appreciate their life. Thirdly, you have to take just 5 minutes to stop and appreciate you and yours, maybe even go out to your garden or just breathe in the fresh air. No matter how bad things get, there is always something positive to find, and somebody worse off than us.

I have really thought about this and always come back to my very favourite quote which I read on the cover of a mag afew months ago while waiting in line at the PO - not sure what mag it was, or even who it was quoted by, but I thought it was just so true!

I like to keep in mind "your happiness or contentment in life it all about perspective." You can always find someone who has more than you and be dissatisfied with your circumstances. BUT if you look in the other direction, you will see others who have less and feel fortunate for all your blessings. It is up to each one of us which direction we choose to focus our attention.

Helen I received my beautiful book and iron on transfers this morning in the mail - wow that was fast as I only ordered on Monday. I am very happy to start this project ... my first embroidered project as I have only ever embroidered two things before in my life. I think I am going to make your lovely quilt in blues. Hmmm... saying... When I was a teenager, I read a novel - don't remember much what it was about, but there was a poem in it - on which the title was based, and it has kind of stuck with me ever since. This is probably not the best translation, but: "Count your bright hours, the dark will come soon enough. Enjoy time with your loved ones, before you see your last summer". Perhaps a bit gloomy, but a great reminder when life gets you down.

I experienced a very difficult moment, last month, with the death of my father. Reading a lot, and stitching a little, helped me finding peace at heart, especially one little sentence, that keeps "trotting" in my mind

Helen I LOVE this quilt.. I dont have a mantra I chant each day, but I do tell myself 'that today is not a dress rehearsal... this is life and make sure that you make the most of each moment'.. I am thankful for living in Newcastle where we can also keep our garden alive.. The favourite thing about summer is my blooming gardenia's.. I love them and have at least 50 plants in my front garden.. I can smell them now!
