Helen, your daughter looks beautiful! I really love her dress! The color is just wonderful and I've always enjoyed the look of frilly, flowy style fabric...so feminine. I hope her night out was perfect. Thanks for sharing the photos and the photos of your garden blooms...I could send you a photo of our yard, covered in the first snow of the year but it just doesn't compare, LOL. Also have to tell you that I read a magazine article the other day that said hand embroidery/stitcheries are a lost art in the USA at this point in time and I was beginning to think it was correct as I can only find a handful of American designers and always turn to my Australian and other over the ocean designers for the wonderful stitching patterns I want. BUT...I have to tell you that I have 12 of my Nice People Nice Things stitcheries completed and when I went to a wonderful shop here in my area named The Shepherds Bush, I had the completed ones with me and the next one I was preparing to start but wanted a special color thread to stitch it with and all of the ladies in the shop, owners and customers alike had all of my pieces layed out across the counter ooooing and awwwing and wanted the name of the designer of my wonderful pieces, so I happily shared your name and the link to your blog with them. The shop owner told me that after the customer response to your designs that morning, she thought is was something she should start to carry in her shop and asked if I knew any other designers that offered these types of stitchery so I gave her several names, all from Australia, Newzealand, Norway, etc., that were my favorites and she wrote each of them down. As I was leaving, I heard her telling her daughters working in the back room about the responses and how excited she was about them... Sooooo, maybe there is hope for Stitchery and Stichery Quilts to make a big come back here in the US! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! Hugs...

Colourque (R) is a techique I developed and use on many of my projects. It is nothing scientific, anyone can do it, it is meant to be fun and easy to do... it is simply using coloured pencils on fabric to get an applique effect. 'Faux Applique' a comprehensive technique book on the method is due for release late November. Watch this space!
