Most of you would know that MissM is currently in the UK working and living in a school near Bath for the year…. several requests have been made for a package from home….. First on the list was Tim Tams – followed by several other items of food… last on the list was a sewing kit – this made me happy… I think she has found she has time in her room at nights and no television to waste away the hours…
So today I quickly made up a couple of simple toiletry type bags with some fabric I had been collecting for her…
This smaller pouch used the last of some British themed fabric I managed to snaffle from our local Spottie… and in it I have put the eye cream and paw paw that was requested
I used fusible pellon for the stabiliser and because the method I used meant a double layer of this – it was a tad too thick for my liking…
So with the next one I made it a little bigger and had to hunt out some normal fusible interfacing. (I would have preferred a nice woven interfacing like weaveline or stafflex but didn't have any on hand) – this was better although its a little stiff… but I am sure it will soften with use.. and some patriotic aussie fabric..
I have filled this one with all the essentials to stitch – a hoop, some thread, some foldup scissors, stitchery needles and a little needlebook.. Of course she will need something to stitch so I transferred some Aussie animal designs from my Truly Aussie quilt onto fabric and stabilized it all ready to stitch… maybe with the kids..
To fill up the box – the requested food items… and the postage cost - $84!!!! hope she enjoys those Tim Tams…
on its way Molly - hugs for today
Helen
Flippity heck Helen! I make Anzac biscuits for my sister in Singapore... Its the thought that really tickles her - I have been known to add a school package of bbq shapes etc. That collection for her is wonderful. She will relish it all!

I'm sure your daughter will love getting her parcel. When I had 12 months o/s back in 88/89 my mum sent me a Christmas parcel. The main request was vegemite! If I remember right, the postage cost about 3 or 4 times the vegemite! There was nothing better than dipping your finger in the vegemite when feeling homesick!

I feel your pain with the postage Helen.....I have sent a few care packages to my son and his GF in London - they were missing some goodies from home..most expensive Frruchocs in history!!! LOL. But it was totally worth it. Of course when I visited them I had to take a suitcase full (well almost) of thei favourite things.

A great package to send her, and I guess you was doing a happy dance when she asked for a sewingkit. Always so fun to make something for the kids when they are asking for it :)
