It is very easy to forget once the media has moved on and people who are affected by terrible tragedies and events of nature are left to pick up their lives and move on. I am sure there are many on the ground busily working away to help but the rest of us move on with life and can easily forget they still need our help. Handmade for Christchurch is an initiative by
three Twenty New Zealand mums (sorry got that number wrong initially)
a bit about them from their facebook page:
We are a group of mums who are all crafty and many of us run our own small businesses and often have wondered how we can get together to help people in need.
When we heard about the Christchurch earthquake our hearts sank and we all felt so helpless. A couple of our group are from the area and we sat there for hours waiting and waiting to hear if our friends were ok. In that time we all chatted and thought of someway that we could help to give a little as we could not leave our families
They have been overwhelmed with donations and bids and ARE making a difference… I offered a full set of the Gidday Quilters Aussie Stitchery's – 38 of them which can be emailed to a winning bidder anywhere in the world. They are up for auction now here. You can see six of them below…
HOW WILL THE BIDDING TAKE PLACE: Items are loaded onto Trademe.
Find us but searching in Members TRADEME NAME: handmade4chch or H.4.C in all items.
Aussie residents can bid on our auctions and pay by paypal (no fees). They don't need an NZ bank a/c
If you are overseas and want to bid, you will need to get a friend or family member in NZ or Aus to bid for you as Trademe is limited to those countries only.
so if you like my stitcheries pop on over and place a bid – a bargain to be had and an opportunity for you to help out from your loungeroom. There are heaps of wonderful things there to bid on, I am sure you will find something you cannot do without.
hugs to you all today, and hugs to our friends in Christchurch..
